Si racconta che Sant’Alberto da Prezzate, vissuto dal 1025 al 1095, fondatore del Monastero di San Giacomo sito in Pontida e del Priorato di Sant’Egidio in Fontanella, soleva frequentemente far visita ad entrambi i luoghi sacri. Era quindi costretto a salire e scendere l’erta che porta al Monte Canto. Con l’avanzare dell’età il tragitto si faceva sempre più faticoso da percorrere e allora, la leggenda vuole che giunto in questo luogo, che si trova circa a metà percorso, si stendesse su questa grossa pietra per riposare le stanche membra per poi, una volta recuperate le forze, riprendere il suo cammino.
It is said that Sant'Alberto da Prezzate, lived from 1025 to 1095, founder of the Monastery of St. James in Pontida and of the Priory of Sant'Egidio in Fontanella, often used to visit both sacred places. He was then forced to climb up and down the ert that leads to Monte Canto. As the age progressed, the journey became more and more difficult to travel and then the legend said that once arrived to this place, about half way down, he used to lay on this big stone just to have a litle res. Then, once recovered, he restart his journey.
