Cerros - Primer Ascenso #5, Cerro Morado
Los primeros ascensos a los altos cumbres de la Cordillera de Los Andes de Chile fueron realizados obviamente por los indígenas (seguramente por los Incas pero posiblemente también por otras culturas anteriores) depositando sus ofrendas a los dioses en los cumbres (véase Cerro el Plomo - La momia de un niño).
Sin embargo, hasta la conquista del territorio hoy denominado Chile por los españoles no hay nada escrito al respecto.
Diego de Almagro y sus hombres cruzaron la Cordillera en marzo de 1536 por el Paso San Francisco de 4726 msnm. Este Paso conecta la Provincia Argentina de Catamarca (Ruta N-60) con la Región Chilena de Atacama (Ruta 31-CH).
Hasta los finales del siglo 19 no hay muchos relatos de ascensos a los altos cumbres cordilleranos. Principalmente por la superstición y el miedo a la naturaleza, la población no se atrevió a subir a la cordillera.
Este serie de seis Caches más un séptimo en forma de un pequeño puzzle dan cuenta de algunos primeros ascensos a unos de los cumbres más conocidos.
Hay que llevar lápiz!!

Primer ascenso 22 de diciembre de 1933
Andinistas La primera ascensión absoluta la realizaron Sebastián Krückel (Alemán) y Otto Pfenniger (Suizo), ambos del Club Alemán Andino de Santiago (DAV), el 22 de diciembre de 1933 por la ruta Yeso.
Nota La cumbre sur del Morado (4490m según IGM) fue ascendida por primera vez en 1934 por Tietzen y Juan Melschner (DAV), por el sector del estero Cortaderas, en el valle del río Yeso. El 4 de marzo de 1961, la pared sur fue escalada por primera vez por César Vásquez y Juan Tangol, en una de las escaladas más destacadas de la época en Chile.
Su nombre hace referencia al color que proyecta la roca de la pared sur.

The first ascents to the high peaks of the Andes Mountains of Chile were obviously carried out by the Indians (probably by the Incas but possibly also by other earlier cultures) by depositing their offerings to the gods at the summits (see Cerro el Plomo - La Mummy of a child).
However, until the conquest of the territory now called Chile by the Spanish, there is nothing written about it.
Diego de Almagro and his men crossed the Cordillera in March of 1536 by the Paso San Francisco at 4726 masl. This Pass connects the Argentine Province of Catamarca (Route N-60) with the Chilean Region of Atacama (Route 31-CH).
Until the end of the 19th century there are not many stories of ascents to the high mountain peaks. Mainly because of superstition and fear of nature, the population did not dare to climb the mountain range.
This series of six Caches plus a seventh in the form of a small puzzle give account of some first ascents to some of the most known summits.

Andinistas The first absolute ascent was made by Sebastián Krückel (German) and Otto Pfenniger (Swiss), both from the German Andean Club of Santiago (DAV), on 22nd December 1933 by the El Yeso route.
Nota The southern summit of Cerro Morado (4490m according to IGM) was first promoted in 1934 by Tietzen and Juan Melschner (DAV), by the Cortaderas estuary sector, in the Yeso river valley. On March 4, 1961, the southern wall was first climbed by César Vásquez and Juan Tangol, in one of the most important climbs of the time in Chile.
Its name refers to the color projected by the rock of the south wall.
