GW-07 (Gnome Wander 07) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GnomeGames: With lockdown 2.0 behind us I had a special trip out to Norley for these GG caches
I decided to archive this mini-series, thanks to all those that have visited it

Lovely circular walk and all containers in the series were removed
(apart from No 4 & 5 which had vanished owing to changes in the environment)

Geocache Description:

The Gnome Wander is a 4.0 km/2.5 mile circular walk near Norley and Kingsley in Cheshire and will take about 2 hours to complete. About two thirds of the wander is across fields, whilst one third is on an unlit country lane without pavements. The rural footpaths do undulate and there are several stiles and gates on the route.

Suggested parking is next to an existing cache, “Alwen” (GC6AM2X) where there is room for a few cars. A waypoint for this is given on the first cache in this series, “GW-01” (GC76185). Dogs are allowed on this walk, but must be kept under control (on a lead). It is unsuitable for bicycles, prams or wheelchairs.

To start, cross the main Norley Road and head down Beech Lane to the point where the footpath crosses the lane. Turn right on this footpath to the first hide, “GW-01”. This is probably the sneakiest hide in the series!

From here cross the quarry trail with care. There is a sign saying no public access to the quarry area, so stay on the path, go straight across the quarry track then swing left down to the footbridge – a waypoint for this is given on “GW-01”. The track then heads up to the second hide “GW-02” (GC76188).

After this cache the route heads past the large house, then turns left down another bridleway (before reaching the road). This winding path passes the quarry workings and will take you past “GW-03” (GC7618B), “GW-04” (GC7618C), “GW-05” (GC7618G) and “GW-06” (GC7618M) before joining Beech Lane again close to some stables.

Turn left and follow this lane back to your start point passing “GW-07” (GC7618P), “GW-08” (GC7618Q), “GW-09” (GC7618T) and “GW-10” (GC7618V). Although this is a country lane, traffic does come along here so take care with both geo-kids and geo-dogs.
