This is a family friendly event that celebrates a lot of great things: summer, Independence Day, Canada Day and Canada's 150th anniversary, USA's 241st birthday, small town festivals, chicken bbq, and another souvenir opportunity in geocaching. And the best part about it is someone else does all the work.
Welcome to Bakersfield's Independence Day celebration. There's a lot going on in town today, including a 5k walk/run at 10:00 am, a parade at noon, the bbq, and an air show with fireworks at dusk. Check out the webpage: https://sites.google.com/site/bakersfieldvermont/home
But BEWARE, there's a parade immediately before the BBQ starts, so if you don't want to be stuck in traffic waiting to get in, come before 11:30 and enjoy the parade. The BBQ (optional) is only $8, but they recommend coming early to get your tickets. We can look into reserving tickets for those interested.
So, if you are looking for a festival to celebrate the fourth, and also want a geocaching souvenir, this is the place in northern Vermont!
Our friend to the north is having an important birthday, and Signal, our favorite frog will be visiting Canada to cache like a Canadian and celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary.
As part of the celebration, you can earn the Canada Day 2017 souvenir by hosting or attending an event on Saturday, July 1 or Sunday, July 2, 2017. We’re excited to join Canadians in celebrating their birthday this July, and we hope you’ll join us!
