Geocache Description:

This geocache is near the Mariner's Monument at the Margetsville Lighthouse. It is regular sized geocache with interesting facts about the area and the monument. Be sure to find all the geocaches in the series in order to get your limited edition geocoin celebrating Canada's 150th Birthday.This cache is one of the 2017 County of Annapolis Geocaching Passport Series.


This lighthouse served for 150 years from October 25, 1896 to October 25, 2009. This geocache located at the light. We hope that you enjoy the scenic view. Please park at the designated parking and follow the marked path since this site is surrounded by private cottages. Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy the nearby sites.

The Mariner’s Monument states In Memory of Clair D. Baker, Master of SS Ruby L., II. Who lost his life in a heroic effort to save the crew from the wreck of his vessel January 25, 1930 “GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN” In the same disaster perished Captain Bayward Powell Charles Kennedy Frederick Hill.

Remember to pick up one of the historical postcards from each of all the 2017 geocaches and then to deliver them to County of Annapolis Office at 752 St. George St, Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, and you will receive a trackable geocoin! The recreation team are available Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm. Once completed, fill in the quick survey/passport for your limited edition trackable geocoin. Have fun!
