Many years ago, bofore the area was protected as a Provincial Park, this was a popular clam digging spot. Many would come here on a weekend at low tide and dig a bucket of clams for a clam bake. Overharvesting and water pollution increasingly stopped the practice and now is not allowed at all. Broad River flows along the flats and has many cabins on the far side.
