Geocache Description:

One of the points of interest and a great viewpoint on the pilgrimage path beside Lough Derg

The cache is the second in a series of four leading you on a round trip walk of 12km called "St. Partick's Purgatory"

The turnoff to the cache is 1.3km along the path and is well marked. The sign says 200m, that is the distance to the cache :) the chair is more like 330m.
According to Harbison & Lynam St Daveoc's/Dabheog's chair is "partially natural, but it seems to have had one or two large blocks added to it, hinting that it may once have been a Bronze Age burial place"
The walk is based on the route of a pilgrimage path which has been in use since the 12th century. The route is fully sign-posted by little yellow bishops and extends through the Coillte forest. In addition to its historical interest, the walk also offers exception lakeside views of Lough Derg and the surrounding countryside. A number of spurs allow access to view points and sites of historical interest.

To get there, head into Pettigo and take the R233 for about 7.5 kms, following the signs for Lough Derg. This will take you to the ferry point for St.Patrick's Purgatory where there is a car park and the start of the walk.
The related web site has an excellent description of the walk.

The cache is a puzzle box which is inside a black bag. The log is in one compartment and the stash is on another. To say you have found this, you must solve the puzzle. The area is nice and quiet, so you will have loads of time, but if you get frustrated, look at the spoiler picture.

The cache started with a Liscooly to Castlefinn return rail ticket, a toy soldier and a small coin in addition to the log book - BYOP

THE CACHE IS NOT HIDDEN AROUND THE CHAIR, SO THERE IS NO NEED TO DISTURB IT
