“Evil” Russell Hantz

Survivor: Samoa (Season 19: 2009), Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains (Season 20: 2010), Survivor: Redemption Island (Season 22: 2011)

Russell is regarded by many as the series's most infamous villain. He is notorious for his ability to locate several Hidden Immunity Idols unaided by clues, and for eliminating his competition as ruthlessly as possible. Despite this, his ineptitude at jury management has contributed to both his failures to win jury votes against eventual winners Natalie White and Sandra Diaz-Twine, two people he considered as easy opponents.

In Samoa, he dumped out his tribes water containers and made up a lie that he was a Katrina victim in order to cause chaos and manipulate his tribemates. He managed to find three Hidden Immunity Idols without clues. After reaching the merge, his alliance was outnumbered 8-4. However, he managed to overcome the disadvantage with the use of a Hidden Immunity Idol and ability to turn two members of the rival alliance to his side. His strong strategic play took him to the end. However, his deceitful gameplay caused him to finish second to his closest ally Natalie White.

In Heroes vs. Villains, Russell played a similar game; sabotaging his tribe, trying to manipulate people, and using Hidden Immunity Idols to his advantage. His strong strategic play took him to the end yet again. However, his cutthroat game play garnered him zero jury votes at the Final Tribal Council.

Russell's past finally caught up to him in Redemption Island, where a target was immediately placed on his back. The "Zapatera Six" saw through his plans, and voted him out. He lost his first duel at Redemption Island and was eliminated in 17th place.

His nephew Brandon Hantz competed on Survivor: South Pacific and Survivor: Caramoan.
