To me, Heather Lake is the sister to Lake 22 and another good and relatively short hike that needed a cache near the trailhead.
The cache is about 200 feet up the trail. When you come to a huge stump, just before a stream crossing, you're close. Enjoy your hike and bring your NW Forest Pass (a day pass can be picked up at the outside kiosk at the Verlot Ranger station for $5) or America the Beautiful Pass.
