TDE #2 -- Analytic Alerts Letterbox Hybrid

Start at the Penn Gate parking lot and follow the directions to the cache.

Penn Gate Parking Lot.

1. Enter park at the main gate, past 2 cement shacks on your left. Heading South.

2. Continue to big pile of slag on left, turn right down the trail, heading West, away from the rocks, down hill.

3. Continue straight downhill about a quarter mile until you run into a pond, about a quarter mile.  During a drought this might just be a very low area. In fact, now it is a very low area, that fills up for a few weeks after rainstorms. The trail will run right down to the low depression, possibly a sinkhole, don't go down into it. The path turns left to go around the depression on the south side of the depression. 

   
   

   The sink hole is about 20 feet deep
   

   • As you round the low area, on the path, which acts as a dam for any water in the depression, stop on the south side of the depression. The forest service has been cutting down trees, and there will be a planned burn (April, 2019)  
     

     
     The madrone tree that is still holding the cach is about 50 feet away, at about 140 degrees, or SouthEast of the depression.
     
     This tree is about 6 inches in diameter, and the hangar is head height.  Leave the hanger attached and sign the log. As of 2019, you will have to climb over numerous downed logs to get to to the correct tree.
