Geocache Description:

Continue the celebration of Canada's 150th birthday with ice cream and geocaching talk at a popular local ice cream shop, and get another opportunity to acquire the Canada Day 2017 souvenir.

Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Date: July 02, 2017

Location: North side of the Elm Park Bridge

Canada's 150th. Last night was fireworks, today it's ice cream with a view of the Red River from the Elm Park Bridge, aka the BDI Bridge. The bridge was built in 1912 as a toll bridge for vehicles and pedestrians. The bridge deck is only 4.6 metres wide, though it managed to accommodate two-way traffic. In the mid-1940s the toll was removed, and by 1974 it was closed to vehicular traffic.

The BDI can be very busy at times. There is limited parking in the lot, and street parking along Jubilee Ave. There is also parking on Kingston Crescent, and then enjoy the walk across the bridge. There are a few outdoor bench seats, depending on availability. Cachers could also bring folding lawn chairs if they wish.
