[RO] Şezătoarea a constituit unul din obiceiurile cu rol foarte important în viaţa socială a satului Iara. La şezătoare se lucra, se cânta, se spuneau poveşti, se practicau unele jocuri sociale, adică se transmitea şi se prelua tradiţia populară. Semnificaţia socială a şezătorilor consta în faptul că ele contribuiau la menţinerea unei mentalităţi colective în comunitatea satului. - Cum era o şezătoare? Șezătoarea este un obicei străvechi. Spun bătrânii satului că ei işi amintesc de şezători din copilaria lor, de la părinţii lor. Şezătorile se organizau în perioada iernii, după sărbătorile de iarnă şi până când începea postul Paştelui. De obicei se organizau pe zone / străzi ale satului. Se adunau mai mulţi oameni la câte o casă, seara, de pe la ora 18 (după ce terminau treaba cu animalele de pe lângă casă) şi şezătoarea ţinea până pe la miezul nopţii. Casele la care se ţineau şezătorile se schimbau prin rotaţie, între membrii grupului de vecini. Erau şezători de adulţi şi şezători de tineri. De organizare se ocupau femeile şi fetele. La şezători, femeile lucrau: se ţesea la război (gazda), se torcea, se depăna lâna, se scărmăna lâna, se tricota, se făceau ciucuri etc.. Bărbaţii care participau ajutau şi ei câteodată, la depănat lâna. Şezătorile organizate de fete erau un prilej bun de a se întâlni cu feciorii din sat. Feciorii aveau privilegiul de a-şi alege şezătoarea la care merg. Câteodatâ adulţii şi tinerii se adunau împreună la şezătoare, dar în încăperi diferite: cei batrâni în casă, cei tineri în tindă. Nu se ţinea cont de situaţia materială a oamenilor, se întâlneau la aceeaşi şezâtoare şi săracii şi cei mai înstăriţi. Gazda îi servea pe cei de la şezătoarea cu gogoşi. Atmosfera era veselă: se cânta, se spuneau poveşti, glume, ghicitori, "se punea ţara la cale".

The girls' sittings were a good opportunity to meet the village sons. The virgins had the privilege of choosing the seating where I was going. Sometimes the adults and young people gathered together in the sitting room but in different rooms: the old ones in the house, the young ones in the tent. No account was taken of the material situation of the people, they met at the same place, and the poor and the richest. The host served the donuts. The atmosphere was cheerful: it was singing, stories, jokes, riddles, "the country was on the way".
