Geocache Description:

Close to Dore Station Junction, great veiws of the trains

Dore Station Junction was built in 1893 by the Midland Railway as part of their new line from Sheffield to Manchester, prior to this the mainline line from Sheffield to Manchester was via the now closed Woodhead Route. The Midland Railway required the building of the nearby Totley Tunnel (3.5 miles long) which took 5 years to build and at the time as the second longest railway tunnel in Britain. The cache is hidden within Beauchief Gardens, there is no need to enter Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet or trespass on railway property. Well done to longtailedkite for the FTF.
