Geocache Description:

Potato Rock is back! Enjoy the lovely hike, I did.
CrackerJack
Trailhead is just west of the Smokey the Bear sign in Ogden Canyon. To park, look for turn-in just after the 10-mile marker and Indian Trail sign if you are approaching from 12th Street. If you shoot past the turn in, you can take the next left, a bridge and do a ring around the cement block to get you back. Coordinates for the trailhead are N41* 14.411 / W111* 54.292(Careful! these coordinates are pasted from CWC!) he! he! he!

This cache is a tribute to the CWC Ogden Canyon Cache, in honor of all the Newbie Normans’ who put their trust in the Hacker (Sorry about that Greenschist, got your profile mixed up with the good rev. Neal!) that “fat fingered” the original coordinates. Some of us newbies went up several times to find the hidden cache, to no avail. I learned a lot about geocaching in those few days and now, since I have recovered, I can laugh about it. If you check out the early logs of CWC, the next passage will make a lot more sense and you’ll see the humor of it all.

Twas the end of the trail in a serene clearing that Potato Rock was born. The newbie cachers’ stumbled upon the sacrificial altar of an ancient tuber cult. The origin of the cult is unknown to us; it is truly a lost piece of history that can never be regained. Upon Potato Rock lay an abandoned corpse of a Russet potato. Fry sauce containers littered the campfire area and the French Fry Synod was discovered. With apologies to Shakespeare, “We come to eat the potato, not to bury it.”

Follow the trail and your GPS to the big fork in the trail. Go left and continue up the trail, from there your GPS should get you the rest of the way without any bushwacking!

This is a mini cache. Since there isn’t a lot of room, I opted for more treasures instead of including a logbook. The cache is about 1 x 2 x 4 inches and is stuffed completely full. Happy Hoeing!
