This cache has been archived.

The Seanachai: While we feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you for a reasonable amount of time, we cannot do so indefinitely. In light of the lack of communication regarding this cache it has been archived to free up the area for new placements. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up this cache or any remaining bits as soon as possible. Please note that geocaches archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance are not eligible for unarchival.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute in the past and I look forward to your continued contributions to the sport of Geocaching.

Geocache Description:

There is no cache hidden at the posted coordinates, but you will need to start there.

You have probably heard the old saying: "Two is company, three is a crowd." Well, you are going to need a MOB of four with smart phones to be able to get the coordinates for the cache container.

mob

I recently came across an interactive geocache called an InterCache, developed by cacher ChileHead. An intercache is a way of creating a geocache similar to a very basic wherigo, where you can string together a combination of virtual and physical waypoints. BUT, unlike wherigos, an InterCache can be developed, edited, and played on your mobile phone's browser with no software required to download! Part virtual cache, part multicache, part puzzle cache, and part wherigo. I intend to develop several caches around this technology, starting with this GeoMob.

A GeoMob is a particular derivitive of the InterCache mechanics. The idea is to get a required number of people to a specified location at the same time (all using smart phones), and then the coordinates for the cache are revealed.

So, in order to find the final coordinates for the cache you need to arrange for at least three other people to join you at the listed coordinates at the same time. When the fourth person joins the virtual mob, all players will get the details for the final cache location on their device's screen. Then off you go!

Posted coordinates are for the large parking area. The gathering spot for the "mob" is very nearby, and the final location is a short walk from there. Let's get started...

  • Go to the posted coordinates.
  • There is no need to log in to or register on the GeoMob site, just open https://www.geotrailsw.com/mob/ on your smart phone and make sure your phone's location is available to the browser. You may see a warning that geomobs are currently broken on Android Chrome browser; however, I tested 3 different mobs using Chrome and had no issues.
  • Verify that the accuracy displayed is reasonable (hopefully less than 20 feet or so).
  • In the box marked, "Which mob are you attending?", enter the number 3009. This will open a screen that will navigate you to the "geo-mob" coordinates.
  • Once the website verifies a participant is at the location, the counter bumps up. The key is to get all of your friends to do the same and get the participant counter to four.
  • Everyone must be within a 6-foot radius. So, you'll have to get yourself and 3 friends squeezed in there. Good luck with that.
  • When the counter reaches the required mob size of 4, the coordinates for the final location will be revealed.
  • Stay in your tight group formation until the information is recorded, or written down, or photographed, or memorized within your photographic memory. Record this information right away! If people leave the mob area, the page you are looking at may disappear and no longer show you the needed coordinates for the geocache. (It takes a minute.)
  • Then, go to the final location, find the cache and sign the log!

Please preserve the spirit of this Geo-Mob by not disclosing the coordinates of the final location to those who do not meet as a group as intended. Thanks.

The cache is a small lock-n-lock.

Enjoy, happy hunting and good luck spilling your ink. Cache ya later!

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning and effort to create and place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, the journey or location, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or "copy and paste" logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.

Travelbug Etiquette: Cachers pay good money for TravelBugs and Geocoins. If you take a TB or GC from a cache will you PLEASE ensure it is correctly logged in and out. If you take one that still shows it is somewhere else, please be patient before “grabbing” the item; it does not get its mileage by being grabbed before the last person to drop it has had time to log their placement. This is particularly important on busy and new caches. If you have an issue with a bug or coin, please e-mail or message the owner through their profile and advise them of the issue; they will be pleased to hear from you.
