[RO] Sculptorul Román Viktor s-a născut în 12 martie 1937 la Mărtiniş. De la şase ani realiza din lut figurine de animale, pe care le vindea la târgul din sat. Talentatul băiat a fost înscris de părinţi la Şcoala de Arte Frumoase din Târgu Mureş. Din 1954 a studiat la Institutul de Arte Plastice Nicolae Grigorescu din Bucureşti, avându-i profesori pe Constantin Baraschi şi Ion Murnu. În 1955 sculpturile sale au participat la Festivalul Tineretului din Varşovia. În 1963 a câştigat premiul pentru sculptură al Uniunii Artiștilor Plastici. În 1966 o statuie de bronz creată de el - Patinatoarea - a fost amplasată în parcul Floreasca din Bucureşti. În 1968 se mută la Paris unde realizează diverse lucrări. În 1994 a primit ordinul Chevalier des Arts et Lettres. A decedat în 12 aprilie 1995. Parisul este decorat cu 17 sculpturi publice realizate de el. Sculptura Le Char a fost realizată iniţial, în anii 70, din fibră de sticlă pentru o expoziţie indoor. Copia din bronz este expusă în piaţă.

[HU] Román Viktor szobrászművész. Született 1937 március 12, Homoródszentmártonban (Mărtiniş). Hatéves korától agyagból állatfigurákat készített, és azokat a falusi vásáron árulta. A tehetséges fiút szülei a marosvásárhelyi Szépművészeti Gimnáziumba íratták be. 1954-től a bukaresti Nicolae Grigorescu szobrásziskolában tanult, ahol Constantin Baraschiés Ion Murnu tanítványa volt. 1955 ben szobrai szerepeltek a varsói VIT-en. 1963-ban elnyerte a román Képzőművész Szövetség szobrászati díját. 1966-ban állították fel egyik bronzszobrát, a Korcsolyázó lányt a bukaresti Floresca parkban. 1968 - Párizsba költözik, ott alkot. 1994-ben Francia Lovagrend (Chevalier des Arts et Lettres) kitüntetésében részesült. 1995 aprilis 12-iken elhunyt. Párizsban jelenleg 17 köztéri szobra látható.
A Le Char-t a művész először a hetvenes években készítette el üvegszálból egy beltéri kiállításra, ennek bronzból készített mása található a téren.

[EN] Roman Viktor, sculptor, borned on 12th of March 1937 in Mărtiniș. Since age of six he was modeling animal figures in clay and sale them at the village market. The gifted boy was enrolled by his parents to the Fine Arts school in Târgu Mureș. Starting 1954 he studied at Nicolae Grigorescu Plastic Arts Institute in București, having Constantin Baraschi and Ion Murnu as teachers. In 1955 his sculptures participate at Youth Festival in Warshaw. In 1963 he earned the price for sculpture from the Plastic Artist Union. In 1966 one of his bronze statues – Iceskater – was placed in Floreasca Park in București. In 1968 he move to Paris were he continue his work. In 1994 he earn the order Chevalier des Arts et Lettres. Passes away on 12th of April 1995. Paris is decorated with 17 of his public sculptures. The sculpture Le Char, initialy made in fiberglass in 70s to be exposed inside, is now realized in bronze and exposed in the market.
