Cette géocache est un boîte en acier de taille moyenne. Pour ouvrir le géocache tu as besoin d’amener une bible ou bien un téléphone intelligent pour déchiffrer le code. Il y aura des objets à échanger.
La tournée des croix a été fait pendant près de 80 ans dans la paroisse des Saints Donatien & Rogatien. Le père Baudoux est revenu du Québec avec l'idée en 1938 pendant un temps de difficultés. C’était pris d'une coutume apportée de l'Europe, appelée Rogationtide, ou le «battement des limites». Il est intéressant ça ressemble à un de nos saints patrons; Cependant, il n'y a pas de connexion. Rogationtide (rogare est latin pour «faire une pétition avec enthousiasme») fait référence à l'ancienne fête qui a émergé après une série de catastrophes naturelles dans la France du cinquième siècle. Dans ce festival, la congrégation a visité les limites de la paroisse, pour invoquer une bénédiction sur les champs, les stocks et les gens. Aujourd'hui, nous passons de croix à la croix, prions le chapelet et chantons des hymnes.
La première croix de la tournée est la croix de Janos Miskolczi (la croix de la région de St. Laszlo), qui a été mise en place en 1903 mais a été intégrée à la tournée après la première tournée. La deuxième croix de la tournée est à l'est de Prud'homme sur l’autoroute 27, et était sur la terre de Gédéon Masson. La troisième croix est juste à l'est de la grille de Prud'homme où elles se courbent juste au sud de la ville, sur ce qui était la terre de François Hounjet. La quatrième croix a été érigée sur les terres de Simplice Bandet et se trouve à l'est de l’autoroute 27 en aval de Canoe Lake Road. La dernière croix est également sur l’autoroute 27, mais à l'ouest de Prud'homme, près de la ferme de Roger et Lillian Levesque sur ce qui était la terre de Théode Grimard. Bien que ce ne soient pas les frontières réelles de notre paroisse aujourd'hui, le «tour des croix» reste symbolique d'un voyage autour de la paroisse.
Le propriétaire nous a donné permission de cacher cette géocache sur son terrain et il demande que toute propriété soit respectée. Garder le terrain propre s.v.p.
The tour of the cross
This geocache is a medium sized steel box. To open the geocache you need to bring a Bible or use a smart phone to get the code. There will be items to exchange.
The tour of the crosses has been carried out faithfully for almost 80 years in the parish of Saints Donatien & Rogatien. Father Baudoux apparently returned from Quebec with the idea in 1938 during a time of hardship. I imagine it might have been taken from a custom brought from Europe, which is called Rogationtide, or the “beating of the bounds”. It is interesting that it sounds the same as one of our patron saints; however, there is no connection. Rogationtide (rogare is latin for “to petition earnestly) refers to the ancient festival that emerged after a sequence of natural disasters in fifth century France. In this festival the congregation toured the boundaries of the parish, to invoke a blessing on fields, stock and folk. Today we go from cross to cross, praying the rosary and singing hymns.
The first cross of the tour is the Janos Miskolczi cross (the cross of the St. Laszlo region), which was actually put up in 1903 but incorporated into the tour sometime after the first tour. The second cross of the tour is east of Prud’homme on HWY27, and was on Gédéon Masson’s land. The third cross is just east of the Prud’homme Grid where they curves just south of town, on what was François Hounjet’s land. The fourth cross was erected on Simplice Bandet’s land and is located east of HWY27 down Canoe Lake Road. The last cross is also on HWY27 but west of Prud’homme, near Roger and Lillian Levesque’s farmsite on what was Théode Grimard’s land. Although these are not the actual boundaries of our parish today, the “tour of the crosses” remains symbolic of a trip around the parish.
The owner has given us permission to hide this geocache on his land and he asks that the property be respected. Please keep the property clean and pick up any garbage.
