This cache is on the banks of the historic Brunswick-Altamaha Canal. This is on the the more southern end of the canal route.
Watch out for alligators, snakes and pretty much anything that can eat you… including ticks. Bug spray is always a plus. You can park near the cache site. The bank of the canal is fairly steep getting down to the cache. The is a lot of overgrowth around, but if you take the right approach you won't really need to do any bushwhacking. Please place it back as you found it.
In the 1800’s the Brunswick-Altamaha Canal was constructed to transport goods from Brunswick's harbor to the Altamaha River to be transported further north. When it was opened in 1854 it was already obsolete because of newly constructed railroads. It closed six years later.
