A simple two stage multi-cache
This cache is placed to tie in with the "Yo Ho Ho Me Hearties - All aboard!" event. I will be awarding a Joint FTF to all who attended the event and logged the cache on that day.
The published coordinates will take you to a plaque, telling you a little about Te Whakawhitinga-0-Ngatitoa (The Crossing). Use this information to work out where you need to be to claim the prize.
S 41° 07.ABC E 174° 50.DEF
Where:
A = Number of vowels on the 2nd line of the plaque x number of letters in the 1st word of that line
B = 2nd number of Year - 3rd number of Year
C = Number of letters in the 1st word, 5th line
D = Number of Month on plaque
E = 2nd number of the Day, plus 1st and 4th number of the Year.
F = Number of letters on the 2nd line, (2nd word - 1st word).
CHECKSUM (A to E) = 36
If you've calculated this right, you'll find that you'll need to cross a river, some train tracks and SH1 to get to the final location. Leave the car where you've parked it and take the footpath over the bridge as there isn't any parking nearer GZ anyway. There is a barrier between you and the road, and the footpath is wide, but take care of any children you have with you, and it can be windy.
GZ should be away from view, but be aware that walkers and cyclists may appear without warning!
The container is a camoed bottle, with a logbook and some bits and pieces inside. Bring your own writing implement and please replace as found.
Final disclaimer... I placed this cache using a smartphone. I've had several trips to recheck the coordinates, and they look accurate on Google maps, but if anybody wishes to whip out their GPS and provide more accurate coordinates, I'll update the cache page accordingly if the difference is significant.
