Geocache Description:

Cache is not located within the campground. You need to access the cache from the hiking trail that can be accessed from the ball fields or you can continue on in a loop from "Shiver Me Timbers"

Don't believe everything you read about the buried treasure of Captain Mary Hyde. We have first hand information from our distant cousins that will put a whole new light on where the treasure really be.

Though there are many different stories of where Mary's treasure is hidden those in the know can tell you that Mary Hyde sailed her ship the "Golden Cache" down the Columbia River on the way to the Pacific Ocean more than once. On this particular trip the ship was bulging at the seams and laden with treasure.
The story goes that while attempting to evade the law and hide in a channel of Pass Creek the ship ran aground. The crew, a motely lot made up of bearded buccaneers and sea legged sailors had the taste of gold in their mouths so instead of helping to free the ship the crew mutinied and with the persistent pleading for help from their Captain Mary ringing in their ears they ran off with the treasure.

Thus ended the rule of the "Golden Chance", the fiercest ship to rule the seas (and Rivers) and her Captain Mary Hyde.

Your challenge - should you take it on - is to search the area near where Pass Creek joins the Columbia River to look for clues that may have been left behind by the crew of the "Golden Chance."
It is believed that there are four clues and if one is strong enough, brave enough, and smart enough to find them all it will lead them to the Iron Bound Chest filled with Silver, Gold, Diamonds, and Jewels.

If you are doubtful of our story and not believing it to be true, then look to the North of the little lake and you will see the flag of the "Golden Chance" where the ship is said to be grounded to this day.

Too much grog caused this sailor to fall but it is believed that he held a vital clue to the whereabouts of the treasure.
