Geocache Description:

A simple traditional in a quiet suburban park bordering the Hope Valley Reservoir. The park has a playground and good sized grassed area.

History of TTG & the N/E #3. The Hope Valley Reservoir is a 2.84-gigalitre service reservoir and was completed in 1873 being the second reservoir to be constructed in Adelaide; it is the oldest still in use in South Australia. It covers 52 hectares and is retained behind a 950-metre long clay-cored earth wall. Water is transferred from the River Torrens via a tunnel and aqueduct. The river is also used to transfer water from the Kangaroo Creek and Millbrook reservoirs.

Coincidentally when placing this cache I came across a plaque in memory of Carl William Carlsson (1899-1988) who was a pioneer and long term resident of Hope Valley.
