A glacial erratic is a rock that differs from the size and type of rock native to the area it is found. They were carried by glaciers from more northern locales and then left when the glacier retreats. They can be found in all sizes and are usually somewhat rounded from the grinding and wearing on thier journey south. This one is a pink granite often found in Minnesota and Canada and is usually large for this far south. It has been setting right here since the last ice age ended. The site in in the northern part of Lexington Lake Park along a Mountain Bike Trail. The park features a lake with boating and fishing, shelter house, playground, restroom and paved and unpaved trails. You are looking for a small LnL hidden 10-15 feet from the erratic. This cache will require at least a hike of a mile each way from the parking lot, most of it on a single track mountain bike trail, with the last few feet bushwhacking. The trail continues in a loop for more caching. Please do not attempt this cache if the trails are closed. They close them when conditions would cause damage to the trails if used. Also respect the seasonal park hours and do not enter if the gates are closed.
