This geocache is located at Willamalane Park near the memorial plaza. Built in 2016, the memorial plaza was conceptualized with help from local Vietnam veterans. The plaque that had been there before was replaced with a 7-foot slab of black granite with an image of a soldier carved on the front. On the back, names of local veterans are etched.
This cache is also in viewing distance of Willamalane Park Swim Center, the town's oldest pool. In the decades since it was built, the pool has been covered, uncovered and covered again! Also in viewing distance is McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center. McKenzie-Willamette and Willamalane are two of Springfield's highest employers.
The Springfield Proud geocaches are meant to take you around some of the nicest places in our delightful town. You're looking for a bison tube. BYOP.
