The Catholic mission of the Lac Vert was founded by Francophone priest Julien Moulin. It was opened on June 23, 1890.
The name of the Lac Vert mission comes from its proximity to Green Lake. This lake takes on a greenish hue during the summer, due to the flowering algae on its surface. In some places, the layer of algae can be up to an inch thick.
The mission consisted of a modest chapel and a cabin for the missionary priest.

La mission catholique du Lac Vert fut fondée par le père francophone Julien Moulin. Elle fut inaugurée le 23 juin 1890.
Le nom de la mission du Lac Vert vient de sa proximité avec le lac Green. Ce lac prend des teintes verdâtres durant l’été, dues à la floraison des algues à la surface du lac. Le couvert peut atteindre un pouce d’épaisseur à certains endroits.
La mission était composée d’une modeste chapelle et d’une cabane pour le père missionnaire.
