The Series
I love technical rope climbing and getting creative with different rigging options, so I thought it might make an interesting theme for a little puzzle series.
The puzzles require a certain understanding of adding forces in different directions and the physics of moving bodies. Unfortunately the passing GCSE physics student might not be much help on this one though I'm afraid :)
One or two of the hides and placements are a little challenging and may require a bit of a scramble, so do take care and don't attempt anything you don't feel capable of.
The Puzzle
The sixth puzzle is much easier to describe than to solve. It concerns a three-point suspension - this is a setup that can make for some quite entertaining climbing, as some will know ...
A triangle of trees grow 6m apart. A container is suspended between them using a 3m, a 4m and a 5m guy all attached 10m up. The container is L centimetres above the ground and M centimetres from the furthest tree.
Calculate L and M to the nearest centimetre.
The cache can be found at N51º 43.(L - 495) W00º 23.(M + 206). |
The Cache
At GZ you are looking for a black pre-form.
Parking and other waypoints are given on the checker.
You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
Congratulations to JDot67 for the FTF
