Il 5 agosto 1967, 50 anni fa, veniva pubblicato l'album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, disco d'esordio dei Pink Floyd.
Anche se non fu una pietra miliare nella storia del rock come i successivi dischi del gruppo è stato fondamentale nell'indirizzare i miei gusti musicali, dopo decine e decine di ascolti.
La copertina che vedete qui sopra è quella dell'edizione italiana, curata dalla EMI, che pubblica una foto del gruppo con un componente che ne farà parte solo successivamente ed omette uno dei fondatori della band inglese.
Ai tempi, fine anni '80, sapevo dell'esistenza di questa edizione e della sua rarità. Un giorno, in un negozio di dischi di un paese di provincia, mi imbattei sbalordito nella copia in foto che ora fa parte della mia collezione, addirittura venduto a metà prezzo (8.000 lire). Ho visto che oggi su un noto sito di aste viene valutato tra 200 e 550 euro. Un piccolo investimento...

On August 5, 1967 - 50 years ago - the Pink Floyd debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, was released.
Although it was not a milestone in rock history as the subsequent albums of the group it was crucial in directing my music tastes, after dozens of dozens of listenings.
The cover you see above is the one of the Italian edition, published by EMI, which press on the cover a photo of the group with a member that will be only later part of the band and omits one of the founding members of the British band.
In the late 1980s, I knew about the existence of this edition and its rarity. One day, in records shop of a little country town, I incredibly found the copy that is now part of my collection, even sold at half price (8,000 lire = 4 euros). I have seen that today on a well-known auction site is rated between 200 and 550 euros. A small investment...
