This is one of a series of caches that will take you from the parking lot to the summit of Saddle Mountain.
*** These caches have been reviewed and approved by Oregon State Parks ***
The numbers in the cache titles indicate the approximate elevation in feet at each cache site. Track your ascent progress as you hike!
Saddle Mountain is a spectacular natural area. Please observe the following on your hike and as you search for the caches:
-
All the caches can be found without leaving the trail. Please stay on the main trail at all times.
-
Do not use shortcuts on the trail. This causes damage to vegetation and increases erosion.
-
Keep dogs leashed at all times.
-
Practice CITO (Cache In-Trash Out) and pick up some litter on your way.
-
Please do not disturb anything as you search for the caches.
-
Due to switchbacks, the next closest cache may not be the next along the trail. Always go to the cache with the next greatest elevation, as indicated in the titles.
-
GPS reception is limited in the forest. Be sure to use the hints! They are designed to get you to the cache as easily as possible.
-
The hints are written for finding the caches as you climb toward the summit, so "right side of trail" means as you ascend.
-
This is a popular hiking trail and the caches are right on the trail, so practicing stealth may be necessary. Please allow other hikers to pass before searching for the caches.
-
Please let me know if any of the caches need attention.
Above all, enjoy your hike in this beautiful area and stay safe!
