Geocache Description:

Merci ! Bon parcours ! A major figure in French classical music, Claude Debussy draws inspiration from literary works and symbolism, a 19th-century artistic and literary movement whose works are inspired by spirituality, dreams and imagination. He composed his first works in 1879 from texts by Alfred de Musset. He is passionate about prints and objects from the Middle East; the drawing The Great Wave of Hokusai, an essential figure in Japanese art of the 19th century, inspired her symphony La Mer, composed in 1905. Besides, a reproduction of Hokusai's drawing will appear on the cover of the original edition of the score of the piece. It is even said that an engraving of the drawing was in his study. Today the birthplace of the composer houses a museum dedicated to him located nearby at 38, rue au pain. The course aims to make you discover major artistic figures who have lived or stayed in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Do not hesitate to visit us at the Saint Germain Boucles de Seine Tourist Office (3 rue Henri IV in the Jardin des Arts). PS: Do not forget to put the caches and their contents back where you found them. Thank you ! Good course!
