I heard that there was a 2017 International Geocaching Day souvenir for anyone attending an event on August 19-20, 2017 so I decided we should have an event. The event will be a quick(ish) 30 minutes then I plan to find some caches in the area. The suggested route will be a loop that goes from Musketeers 2 for 1, follows the Kaiwi Shoreline Trail, climbs up to Pele's chair, then continues along the ridge up to Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Trail and Makapu'u Iki. I don't know how long this is - maybe two miles. Mob rules so once we reach the road we can decide if anyone wants to continue up the road to find more caches, take the trail down to Pele's Lap Pool, and/or continue up to find more caches.
Planned route of caches in order:
Musketters 2 for 1
Musketeers Nursery Rhyme
Geohazard
Lohe's Cove
Pele's Chair
Makapu'u Iki
NOTE: The Kaiwi Shoreline Trail is flat and easy, but it will be hot so bring lots of water and some kind of sun protection. The section that connects Kaiwi to the Lighthouse trail is a rocky climb up and along the ridge and is the hardest part of this route. Anyone who doesn't feel comfortable on the steeper rocky trail can return via the dirt road and skip this part.
