While part of the US will have a total solar eclipse, Maine will have to accept viewing the partial eclipse. Come by the pavilion on Monday, August 21st from 2:30- 3pm as the maximum totality we will see will occur at aproximatly 2:45pm, according to USM- https://usm.maine.edu/planet/august-21-2017-total-solar-eclipse.

There is more information on this eclipse and a preview of the next total eclipse found on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_eclipse_of_August_21,_2017

Monday, August 21 2017

2:30pm- 3:00pm

North Street Pavillion,

Waterville, Maine

Please bring with you any snacks or drinks you want, and one special piece of equipment- an eclipse viewer. No direct viewing of the eclipse! We will only have a partial eclipse, so you will have to have a pinhole projector- i found some simple instructions using a cereal box and aluminum foil here- https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/how-make-pinhole-projector-view-solar-eclipse. What we should see during the event is the moon covering the sun almost 50%!

hope to see you there!
