Geocache Description:

Located in Stillwater, "The birthplace of Minnesota".

Update! On September 3, 2002 the last large building of the old prison burned down. Article on the fire.

I have updated the coordinates since the fire - they have placed a permanent fence in front of the monument for safety reasons (it is quite close to the ruins of the prison).

Not only was this the location of the first prison in the Minnesota Territory (the large building behind and to the right), but this was also the scene of a battle between two Native American tribes before the prison was even built. To get credit, please email me the following:

--Who was the first warden?
--What year did he occupy the residence?
--What is the street number of the Warden's house?

Please do not post the answers here.
