Geocache Description:

What: The Black Hills Area Geocachers 2017 "Adopt a Highway" cleanup CITO event.

When: Saturday September 23rd, 2017 at 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

Where: The posted coordinates, or west of Hill City at the Deerfield Road and Mystic Road junction.

Come join us for the fifth annual "Adopt a Highway" CITO event hosted by the Black Hills Area Geocachers. Our stretch of highway is on Deerfield Road, between the Mystic Road and McVey Road intersections. (Map Link)

Like prior years, we will meet at the posted coordinates at 10:00 AM and divide into teams starting in the middle, and working east and west. If you can, consider car pooling to the site to minimize the number of vehicles we have to park at the location.

Pennington County Highways will provide the high visibility safety vests, trash bags, etc. Please dress appropriately for the terrain and weather. The road right of ways are steeply sloped in some areas so consider that in your footwear. Bring your own gloves, grabbers, pokey sticks, etc.

Please log a "Will Attend" so we know how to plan before we get there that morning.

Everyone that attends will receive the second special CITO week souvenir.

After the CITO event, we'll all meet up someplace in Hill City for lunch. Location to be determined at that time.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Pennington county regulations state that each participant is required to complete the "Release and Waiver of Liability, Assumption of the Risk and Indemnity Agreement and Consent to Medical Treatment" form annually prior to occupancy of the right-of-way for Adopt-A-Highway activities. There is a form for adults over the age of eighteen (18), as well as minors who are under the age of eighteen (18), which must be signed by the minor's parent or legal guardian. Forms will be provided at the beginning of the event, or you can download it and bring it to the event pre-signed. There is also the Policy and Safety Suggestion form that should be read. Both forms are at the link below.
