After a decade and a half of geocaching, it's hard to find interesting locations without nearby caches. Noticed this fine-looking trail heading off into the hinterlands of Big Basin, and confirmed with a topo map that the trail stays on public land for quite a distance. . .
You are looking for a waterproof tackle box, as the prior ammo can was destroyed in the last fire. It's sitting near the summit of this formally woody peak, which itself is higher than Chalk Mountain. I've gotten to this summit from Waddell Beach, Big Basin Headquarters, and a third entry point. Have fun bagging an unnamed peak that no one will appreciate.
If you like hiking as much as caching (or more!), be sure to visit all the caches in the Hardcore Hiker series. Perhaps you'll show up on the list of those who have found caches in the series. Are you hardcore?
