安平區漁光島早期稱為「三鯤鯓」，因台江內海逐漸淤積而形成，早期民眾可以從觀夕平台附近出入社區，近幾年挖開舊港道後，只能經由漁光大橋出入，成為一座「離島」，因居民夜間駕船出海捕魚時，海上每艘漁船都有一盞燈，漁光點點，因此被稱為「漁光島」。
「日落塔」是英籍府城女婿利用廢棄蚵棚竹子，在漁光島創作三十七米高的地景藝術。這裡也是遊客欣賞白沙銀浪、夕陽的好地方，還有風浪板、帆船等水域活動。
