Geocache Description:

Arrrgh ye maties......In order to claim this Virtual you must sail the waters of the Kootenay Lake aboard either the MV Osprey 2000 or the MV Balfour and take the World's Longest Free Scenic Ferry Ride.

To begin your Voyage you will need to gather information at the Balfour Ferry Landing.

The posted coordinates will take you to a kiosk with several signs where you will find the answers to the following questions.

1. There is a sign for the "Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area" - How many "Western Painted Turtles are in the picture on the sign?
2. From the sign that talks about the CIRCLE ROUTES - how many kms driving is involved to do the circle route #1.Hot Springs
3. From the same sign that talks about the CIRCLE ROUTES - what other route is mentioned? (Number and Name)

Your next step.........If you are strong enough, brave enough, and smart enough will be to join the crew, a motely lot made up of bearded buccaneers and sea legged sailors, of either the M.V. Osprey 2000 or the M.V. Balfour. We are just joking......the crew really consists of some of the World's Finest Sailors.
Your vessel will take you on the "World's Longest Free Scenic Ferry Ride" in order to cross the beautiful waters of Kootenay Lake to the Kootenay Bay Landing (see additional waypoint).
The M.V. Osprey is the only ferry available in the winter months. For some reason the M.V. Balfour disappears for a period of time - her whereabouts are unknown - but rumor has it that she plies the Seven Seas in search of an Iron Bound Chest filled with Silver, Gold, Diamonds, and Jewels.

Beware - it is common knowledge that Pirates lurk in these waters.
Before you set sail on this voyage be warned that you must be able to withstand breathtaking views, remarkable scenery, and incredible vistas.

Once on the other side, to prove your seaworthiness you must answer the following questions.
1. The Creston Valley Wildlife Sign includes a photo of an older observation tower what is the year it was taken?
2. The Creston Valley Wildlife Sign includes a photo of a frog. What type of frog is it?
3. The "Welcome to Balfour and Area" sign has a paragraph inserted about the community. What are the last three words in the inserted section? "Welcome to Balfour and _____ _____ ____.

You will need to email or message us through Geocaching with your answers.
As well as answering the questions you need to take a picture of yourself (not necessarily your face......boots work) aboard one of the ferries. Bonus points if your holding up a sign with your caching name.

The Voyage can be done in reverse if you choose but you must answer both sets of questions and provide photo proof of your voyage. Failure to fulfil the logging requirements will result in your having to "Walk The Plank".............. as well as your log being deleted.
