Heute möchten wir euch ein - wie wir meinen - beeindruckendes und seit 1983 geschütztes Industriedenkmal näher bringen.
Und los geht es mit der Erforschung des Speicherkraftwerkes Walchensee
An den angegebenen Parkplatzkoordinaten stehen ausreichend Parkplätze zur Verfügung.
Der Zutritt zum Infocenter wie auch zur Maschinenhalle ist kostenfrei möglich.
Beachtet bitte unbedingt die Öffnungszeiten:

Das weithin sichtbare Speicherkraftwerk Walchensee gilt als Wiege der industriellen Stromerzeugung in Bayern und wurde 1924 fertiggestellt. Mit einer Leistung von 124.000 Kilowatt (124 Megawatt) war es damals eines der größten Wasserkraftwerke der Welt. Aber auch heute spielt dieses Kraftwerk mit einer Jahreserzeugung von rund 300 Millionen Kilowattstunden (300 Gigawattstunden) in der Liga der größten Hochdruckspeicherkraftwerke Deutschlands.
Als Speicherkraftwerk nutzt die Anlage am Walchensee den Höhenunterschied zwischen einem hoch gelegenen Speichersee - hier dem Walchensee - und dem Walchenseekraftwerk am tiefer gelegenen Kochelsee. Das Wasser stürzt über die sechs 400 Meter langen Druckrohrleitungen vom Walchensee zu den rund 200 Meter tiefer gelegenen Turbinen im Maschinenhaus am Kochelsee. Die potenzielle Energie des Wassers wird in mechanische Drehenergie der Turbinen umgesetzt, das Wasser fliesst über den Auslaufkanal des Kraftwerks in den Kochelsee ab. Über die Besucherebene sind die Turbinen und Generatoren in Aktion zu bestaunen.
Hier nun eure Aufgabenstellung:
Begebt euch bitte zu den Listingkoordinaten N 47° 37.807 E 011° 20.119 und fotografiert dort die Gesamtansicht (Werk mit Fallrohre), mit eurem GPS Gerät oder Smartphone auf dem Bildausschnitt. Selbstverständlich freuen wir uns auch über ein Bild mit euch (das Gesicht muss natürlich nicht erkennbar sein). Ein Beispielfoto haben wir dem Listing angefügt.

How about exploring the the impressive Walchensee hydropower plant

In 1983 the Walchensee power plant was declared an industrial monument.
Completed in 1924, it was one of the largest hydropower plants in the world with a capacity of 124,000 kilowatts (124 megawatts). Even today, the annual power generation of about 300 million kilowatt hours (300 gigawatt hours) makes this plant one of the largest high-pressure pumped plants in Germany.
The power plant uses the drop between the higher storage lake (lake Walchensee) and the Walchensee power plant on the lower level of lake Kochelsee. Water falls from lake Walchensee though the six 400-meter-long pressure pipes where it is then directed straight to the turbines of the powerhouse on lake Kochelsee about 200 metres below. After the potential energy from the water is transformed into mechanical rotational energy in the turbines, the water flows through the discharge channel right into lake Kochelsee. Visiting the turbines and generators at the plant floor is really a highlight.

In case you prefer a foto of you your face does not have to be recognizable, of course. We added an example for a picture - as it is requested - to the listing.
