Geocache Description:

For those that have never done a virtual geocache before there is not a physical container located here. Please continue reading on how to claim a find on this geocache.

This is a two step multi-virtual. You need to gather information at the posted coordinates. which will lead you to the final.

Please note there are limited hours at both locations. The final location is only available Dawn to Dusk, or 8:00PM, whichever is earlier. While the public is welcome at the final location it is considered trespassing to be there after hours. Please plan accordingly.

The History

Unlike many who came to the Everett area brothers Wyatt and Bethel Rucker came to stay. Most came to invest, make their money and return. One of the biggest investors in the Everett area for example was John D. Rockefeller, when there was hope that the Great Northern Railway would pick Everett as a terminus, and again many years later when gold was found nearby at Monte Cristo. Through this boom and bust cycle the Ruckers stuck it out and invested wisely. The final location was a tribute they built to their Mother, Jane Rucker who joined them on their adventure out west.

Getting to the Final Location

Many familiar with Everett or who have geocached in the past will know or suspect where the final location is. I also encourage you not to look at the pictures in the logs and be surprised when you arrive, this is especially encouraged for those not familiar with the area.

At the posted coordinates look for the information sign. Unfortunately the numbers on the sign do not line up exactly with what is needed so we will keep the math at a minimum.

...large family residence in 19AB

...as pioneers of modest means in 18CD

E = A + 2

F = B + 2

G = A + 1

The final location from which the picture requirement is needed is at N 47 5F.FDB W 122 1E.GDC

Parking can be found by subtracting .020 from the North and .010 from the West, enter off Broadway.

Logging the Final

1) At the final coordinates please take a current picture, preferable of yourself with the large object in the background, holding your gps, or if you use your phone (or are camera shy) something else that would not usually show up in a picture (for example, car keys, todays newspaper, a piece of paper with todays date, etc) Please post this with your log (I'll also accept this attached to number 2).

2) Please email or message me the following, there is a sign that is orange in color right in front of where you parked your car, what does this sign say in general and what specifically is the number at the bottom of it.

Why this location is unique

Monuments of this size at locations such as these were rare at the time and extremely rare in the West.

Trivia and other highlights, no impact on finding this cache but things found while researching this location

The Rucker Mansion was only lived in for a few years by the Ruckers before being sold, below construction cost. It is still a private residence and on the National Historic Register.

The house used in Twin Peaks for Laura Palmers House is just down the street from you on 33rd when you are at the posted coordinates.

If the final location looks familiar it is because a snippet of it was in the Sylvester Stallone movie Assassins, I watched, I missed it.
