Father's Day 2017... "What you like to do dad?" they said. It was the first weekend since the end of winter and only 2 weeks prior we'd been camping not that far away and endured -5.5 degrees temperatures.
"Simple! Let's check out those awesome waterholes on top of Fortress Falls. Oh...and don't forget your swimmers!". "But dad..."
And so, a family day out was had to this super location overlooking the beautiful Govett's Leap Valley, on the edge of where the 70 metre high Fortress Falls run off the cliff. We walked there using the waypoints listed on the cache page (a small hand-line will help a lot getting down a steep 5 metre slope), but the alternative way of getting there is to follow the canyon itself. That's something for the summer months though!
"This would be a great spot for that virtual reward cache dad! But can you make sure the coordinates are really, really accurate and right in the middle of the waterhole! It just wouldn't be right coming all this way and not having to go for a dip. In fact, why don't you get in so we can take a photo to show future visitors where they need to go to actually visit GZ! Be careful not to slip over the edge though - it's a long way down!"
In order to claim a find, you will need to take a photo of yourself at GZ. Yes, absolute GZ (as in the above photo)! Selfies are fine, and so are photos of just your GPS at GZ as long as it shows proof in the background that you are at the required location! Photos from visits to this location prior to the publication of this cache do not count. Enjoy!
