Geocache Description:

For many years a Supermarine Spitfire was mounted outside of the Royal Australian Air Force Association headquarters in Adelaide Terrace Perth until the association moved to the Air Force Memorial Estate in Bull Creek.

After the association was formed a number of dedicated ex service personal also started collecting, restoring and preserving aircraft parts and memorabilia which become the beginning of what is now the Aviation Heritage Museum.

The museum is located within the Estate near the main entrance and, apart from a paid manager, is run entirely by a group of around 200 dedicated volunteers with the aim to preserve the Western Australian and Australian Civil and Military aviation history.

The museum is open every day from 10am to 4pm except on New Years Day, Good Friday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day with a small charge for entry into the museum.

There are two main wings to the museum. The south wing (entrance) mainly dedicated to the Civil aviation history and the north wing mainly dedicated to the Military aviation history.

(It may not be well known but our national airline was not the first airline to fly a scheduled air service in Australia as Western Australia Airways started a regular service from Geraldton to the north of Western Australia preceding our national airline who started their service between Charleville and Cloncurry shortly after.)

The Supermarine Spitfire currently mounted at the main entrance is not the original Supermarine Spitfire mounted outside the association headquarters when they were in Adelaide Terrace but a fiberglass replica. The original Supermarine Spitfire has been restored and is now housed with other military aircraft in the North hanger of the museum.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

-A-

If you do not wish to pay to enter the museum take an image of the replica Supermarine Spitfire outside of the museum and include it in your log and then send me the answers to these questions:

On the end plaques placed on the walls underneath and to the west of the replica.

Q1: What does the blue text say on the plaque unveiled on the 13th September 1959?
Q2: What date and who by was the plaque on the opposite side to the one in 'Q1' unveiled?

or -B-

If you have entered into the museum take an image of the real Supermarine Spitfire in the north wing and include it in your log and then send me the answer to these questions:

There are two similar metal objects under/behind the starboard wing of the aircraft.

Q1: What are these metal objects and what were they used for?
Q2: What is the colour of the extra object fixed to the second of them?

(Of course you can do both sets of requirements if you wish.)

You can log the cache once you have completed the requirements and sent me the answers to the questions. Do not reveal any of the answers in your online logs!

Logs that do not have an image attached and/or where I have not received the answers in a reasonable time after the online log will be deleted.
