[Mount Greylock is the highest natural point in Massachusetts at 3,491'. Although many relate it to being in the Berkshires, it is actually part of the Taconic Mountain Range. You may hike to the top using some of the many trails (including the Appalachian Trail) or you may drive up using the seasonal roads. The roads are open annually from May to November 1 depending on weather conditions. Atop the mountain is the beautiful lighthouse otherwise known as the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Tower. Open to the public, it offers incredible views of fives states. The tower does not have to be open to qualify for finding this virtual geocache. From the nearby edge, you may witness hang gliders and paragliders launching themselves off the mountain in a thrilling, albeit terrifying display. The views alone from the top of Mount Greylock are worth the trip. To qualify for the find, you may do one of the following: 1 Post a picture of yourself at the coordinates with the Veterans Memorial Tower in the background. 2. If photos are not your thing, check out the plaques on the Tower near the entrance. How many people were in the crowd when it was dedicated in 1933? 3. Why is the light dimmed for a few weeks in Spring and Fall? 4. According to the plaque, how many acres was the Reservation established on originally? Email your answers, do not put them in your log or it will be deleted. Enjoy your time here. .]
