If you have lived in the "OV" for a while, you may have noticed the beautiful sculptures and artwork scattered around the newly developed commercial areas. The metal animals along La Canada and statuary at Naranja and 1st are just a couple examples. One person is primarily responsible for making your next visit to Walmart a more pleasant experience, Mr Dick Eggerding. He co-founded the Greater Oro Valley Arts Council, established the Oro Valley Public Art Code, the Oro Valley Community Foundation, and the 1% for Public Art funding. That last thing requires any new commercial or city development contribute 1% of the cost of that project to some kind of artwork. That's what you will see when you visit the posted coordinates.
I had a micro hidden here several years ago, but I gave up on it after replacing the container several times. Now, this cache is "virtually muggle proof!" (pun intended). Go to the posted coordinates and look at the interesting artwork that surrounds you. You will see skillfully made metal representations of cacti, and pretty patterns of inlaid glass in the cement walkway. At ground zero, you will find another "art object." What is the artist's name and the year of creation? Email or message me the answer when you log the find. Please do not post the answers in your find log! After collecting the necessary information, take a short walk on the path. I hope the experience will help you appreciate Dick Eggerding's contributions to our little community. At the very least, it will lower your blood pressure! As always, wear sunscreen and keep an eye out for desert critters. Parking is very near and the cache is wheelchair accessible.
