Prominently on display atop Lookout Mountain while traveling along I-70 in Golden sits the shrine to Mother Cabrini.
Mother Cabrini, aka Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, is the first American citizen saint and the patron saint of immigrants.
Regardless of your religious affiliation, the grounds have many peaceful areas to enjoy and offer exceptional views of the Rockies and downtown Denver.
The Shrine
The shrine is free to the public and open 7 days a week, but only available from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm so plan accordingly. Once at the parking area, you will then need to walk 372 steps to get to the shrine itself. Handicap access is available (inquire at the gift shop one hour prior to closing).
Logging Requirements
Find two pieces of information, both 9-letter words:
- Locate the pink bench directly behind the shrine. The surname on that bench is XXXXXXXXX
- Each step has a sponsor noted by a small plaque. The last word on the 372nd (final) step is YYYYYYYYY
The quickest way to verify your answers is to send an email with your caching name in either the subject or the body of the message to XXXXXXXXX.YYYYYYYYY@gmail.com. If your answers are correct, you should get an automatic response giving permission to log the cache. If you're caching in a group, feel free to include multiple caching names in a single message.
Alternatively, you may send your answers to me through the geocaching.com message center. This will also suffice if Gmail does not send an immediate response.
Logs for which an email or message has not been received within 2 weeks will be deleted, sorry. Feel free to post as many photos as you want, but please do not post spoilers.
