Geocache Description:

At these coordinates you will find a local landmark: Sunday Rock. This large glacial erratic originally stood in the center of the road. Legend has it that the stone marked the dividing line between "civilization" and the Adirondack Preserve where the were "no laws" and "no Sunday." The nearby landmark signs will tell you the story of how the rock was moved twice!

To get credit for this virtual find you must do the following:

Using the steel rods embedded in the stone as reference points, measure the base of the rock and send me the circumference of the rock. Your measurement must be within +/- 1" or 3 cm of mine in order to receive credit.

Some further hints: Use a flexible measuring tape (I do not suggest on of the standard spring loaded curved metal tape measures, they are not really flexible enough, a cloth or flat metal tape is best). Your tape will need to be a minimum of 25' long. Measure point to point, from rod to rod. Some parts of the rock might distort your tape, or the tape might gap over some areas, but just keep the tape taut over the rods. The reference rods are about a foot off the ground. There are three of the four rods still in place, make sure your tape touches all three, and goes over the center of the hole for the fourth. Measuring may be difficult in winter, depending on the depth of the snow.

When the new virtuals were released I knew that I wanted to place one of the D/T combos that were missing, making a complete D/T chart using nothing but virtuals impossible. There has since been another virtual cache placed with this same D/T but it is in Slovakia. This is the only virtual of this D/T in the Western Hemisphere.

Virtual Reward - 2017/2018
