Geocache Description:

Plymouth Rock in Seattle

Did you know there is a place in Seattle where you can stroll between the Statue of Liberty and Plymouth Rock in only minutes? This virtual cache is designed to take you there…

The first white settlers in the Puget Sound region landed on Alki Point in the fall of 1851. The group, known as the Denny Party, developed the area's first white settlement on the shores of Alki. The members of the Denny Party eventually become founders of the city of Seattle. Today, Alki is a popular beach destination and restaurant area.

This monument stands as a reminder of the Denny Party’s landing and the Duwamish and other Native Peoples who inhabited these lands and helped the party survive their early years.

To log this cache post a picture of your GPS and the monument.  If you are using your phone as a GPSR and camera then make sure you are holding your keys, some fingers, a sign, or something that makes your photo unique.

Then check out all the plaques on the monument, stroll down the street to visit the Statue of Liberty, and consider visiting the Duwamish Long House on the Duwamish Waterway.

PLEASE FOLLOW DIRECTIONS IN THE LOGGING TASK ABOVE to assure the tenure of your log. Additional photos are welcome, but the following are not acceptable substitutions for the logging task:

  • Log with no photo
  • Photo of you with the monument from a distance, across the street, or from a car
  • Photos sent to me instead of posting them with your log
  • Logs that say "I'm on the other person's photo" - it is too hard to keep track

Logs not following directions will be deleted
