Ehrensvärd and Suomenlinna
This cache presents Suomenlinna seafortress and it's founder Augustin Ehrensvärd. The cache is located at the heart of the fortress.

Suomenlinnan alue käsittää noin 200 rakennusta 80 hehtaarin maa-alueen kahdeksalla saarella,jotka ovat etelästä alkaen lueteltuina:
Kustaanmiekka, Susisaari, Iso Mustasaari, Pikku Mustasaari, Länsi-Mustasaari, Särkkä, yksi Pormestarinluodoista ja Lonna.
Bastion fortress on six islands.
The Suomenlinna area includes about 200 buildings on eight islands, about 80 hectares of landmass combined. The islands from the south are: Kustaanmiekka, Susisaari, Iso Mustasaari, Pikku Mustasaari, Länsi-Mustasaari, Särkkä, Pormestarinluoto (just the one from the group of rocks that have fortification build) and Lonna.
Muurien pituus on noin 6 kilometriä ja tykkejä 105 kappaletta. Linnoituslaitteet rakennettiin kuudelle saarelle, joista Susisaareen tehtiin päälinnoitus. Viereisen susiluodon linnoitus nimettiin vuonna 1749 Kustaanmiekaksi kruununperillisen mukaan. Pienempiin saariin lukeutuvat Pikku Mustasaari, Länsi-Mustasaari sekä Särkkä. Saarista suurin on Iso Mustasaari.
Total length of the fortifiction walls is about six kilometers and the total amount of cannons is 105. The fortress is built on six of the eight islands, Susisaari being the heard of the fortification. The neighboring island to the south from Susisaari was originally called Susiluoto but was named Kustaanmiekka in 1749 according to the heir of the crown. The main islands are (from the south) Kustaanmiekka, Susisaari and Iso Mustasaari. Smaller islands include Pikku Mustasaari, Länsi-Mustasaari and Särkkä.
Augustin Ehrensvärd
Augustin Ehrensvärd (25. syyskuuta 1710 Västerås, Ruotsi – 4. lokakuuta 1772 Mietoinen) oli ruotsalainen kreivi ja sotamarsalkka, Suomenlinnan suunnittelija ja rakennustöiden johtaja.
Ehrensvärd on haudattu Viaporin Isolle linnanpihalle. Haudalla on kuningas Kustaa III:n ja Ehrensvärdin kummipojan suunnittelema ja Johan Tobias Sergelin veistämä hautamuistomerkki. Muistomerkin pronssi valettiin Ruotsinsalmen II:ssa meritaistelussa 1790 vallattujen venäläisten laivojen tykeistä.lähde? Saman aukion laidalla on vanha komendantin talo, jossa nykyisin on Ehrensvärd-museo.
Yksi Suomen tunnetuimmista lauseista on Ehrensvärdin käsialaa, ja se on hakattu Kuninkaanportin viereen laitettuun kivitauluun:

Augustin Ehrensvärd (9/25/1720 Vesterås, Sweden - 10/4/1772 Mietoinen) was a Swedish earl and a Field Marshal who designed Suomenlinna and who was the head of the Suomenlinna construction.Ehrensvärd is buried in the large yard of the castle. There is a memorial for Gustav III of Sweden on the grave which is designed by Ehrensvärd's godson and sculptured by Johan Tobias Sergel. The bronze for the memorial was founded from the Russian guns which were used in the naval battle in Svensksund in 1790. There is a commandant's house in the same square where the Ehrensvärd's museum is located.
One of the most well-known Finnish sentences is written by Ehrensvärd which is beaten on a board on Kuninkaanportti:
»Eftervard, stå här på egen botn, och lita icke på främmande hielp. (Jälkimaailma, seiso täällä omalla pohjallasi äläkä luota vieraaseen apuun).» (Afterworld, stand on your own bottom and do not trust in the help of the foreign.)
Toukokuun 12. päivänä 1918 Kustaanmiekan linnoituksessa nostettiin salkoon Suomen tasavallan ensimmäinen leijonalippu. Senaatin asetuksella linnoituksen nimi muutettiin virallisesti Suomenlinnaksi seuraavana päivänä.
On May 12, 1918, the first lion flag of the Republic of Finland was hoisted at Kustaanmiekka. By the ruling of the Senate the following day the name of the Seafortress was officially changed from Viapori to Suomenlinna.
Olkoon tämä kätkö kunnianosoitus Suomen itsenäisyydelle joka on nyt kestänyt 100 vuotta.
