Geocache Description:

Seljavallalaug Virtual Cache

Seljavallalaug is believed to be the oldest swimming pool in Iceland. It is 25m long and was built in 1923. It is fed by a nearby hot spring that usually keeps the water warm.

There are basic changing rooms provided and people were also changing on the rocks behind. Seljavallalaug pool is cleaned once a year by a team of local volunteers. The water often contains algae (and ash) and when we were there the floor was really slippery/slimy!

The walk from the parking to the pool takes around 20 minutes.

To claim this virtual cache please upload a photo that includes the Seljavallalaug sign. You do not need to show faces, but please make it your own photo by adding something personal, for example, your GPS, phone, travel bug etc .

Please also, as an optional extra, remove one piece of litter from the area. This was the only place we saw litter left by tourists, so it would be great if the geocaching community could help keep this place tidy. Thank you
