Geocache Description:

Historic Bosse Field is a baseball stadium located in Evansville, Indiana. Opening in 1915, it was the first municipally owned sports stadium in the United States and is the third-oldest ballpark still in regular use for professional baseball, surpassed only by Fenway Park (1912) in Boston and Wrigley Field (1914) in Chicago.

One-hundred of the Baseball Hall of Fame's 306 members have appeared in one way or another at Bosse Field through the years, including Warren Spahn, Bert Blyleven, Oakland City's Edd Roush, Hank Greenberg, Chuck Klein and Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Uecker. Fifteen of the 1984 World Series champion Detroit Tigers were former Triplets, including Kirk Gibson, Jack Morris and Lance Parrish. The 1992 fictional movie about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, "A League of Their Own," was primarily filmed there, and it has been the home of the independent Frontier League Evansville Otters since 1995.

The historic stadium was also used in 1991 by Columbia Pictures for filming numerous game scenes in the movie A League of Their Own.
