Geocache Description:

Huel Lee

Huel Lee

Millstones were quarried in this sandstone outcrop. The quarry belonged to the abbey of ‘Oeren' located circa 30km away near Trier in Germany. The millstones were supplied to local mills including the ' Vugelsmillen’ in the nearby valley of the ‘Schwaarz-Iernz’ (Black Ernz). The villagers from Berdorf had to grind their grain in this mill and the grain was transported along the 'Millewée' which leads from the plateau through the woods to the bottom of the valley. The underlined letters will give you  the name of a former prime minister of Luxembourg who introduced compulsory social security in 1901.
