Geocache Description:

JBECK2'S VIRTUAL YOGA COURSE

Continued Misadventures of Jbeck2 - the Newbie Geocacher

Several weeks ago, my old Wii Fit finally stopped working. (Perhaps I shouldn’t have tried to incorporate it into aqua-aerobics).

After even my vast technical skills failed to fix it, I was concerned as to how I would keep myself in Geocaching Shape.

How would I do my weekly Yoga regimen?!?

I began looking for a new Yoga instructor to replace the virtual trainer from the game.

At first my internet search for yoga instruction seemed to be going well, however every time I would reach out to a potential contact, after I described my Geocaching Yoga goals and the level of expertise I had obtained in Yoga already, they always seemed to have other engagements, scheduling conflicts, or international relocations pending.

After the 9th or 10th call I got frustrated. When I called the next name on my list (some guy named Roger) before he could make an excuse otherwise, I insisted on meeting in person. He seemed reluctant to give me his address – and then the phone line went dead.

I tried calling back but there was no answer.

Hmmm... He must be having problems with his phone.

Well, this time, I wasn’t going to take no for an answer. Even though I didn’t have his address, I asked my smartphone to look it up and it came up with an answer right away.

I followed my phone’s GPS to where it said Roger resided, and ended up at the posted coordinates.

That’s when the trouble started...

Roger’s place was not at all what I expected – It seemed awfully large (and impressive) for a Yoga studio.

However, it was Roger himself that really took me by surprise.

It was clear to me why he wasn’t answering the phone - He appeared to be standing frozen on some sort of step-aerobics pedestal holding something strange above his head (a rolled-up Yoga mat?)

All attempts to engage him in conversation failed – Like all the other Yoga instructors, he was clearly intent on ignoring me – even after I tried to replicate the Yoga pose he was doing.

I decided I’d have to give up on having a human Yoga instructor and go back to having a virtual one... But how could I replace my prior virtual Wii instructor?

Then I had an idea.

Somehow Geocaching HQ awarded me this “Virtual Cache” posting... I wasn't really sure what it was for. Maybe I could turn my Virtual Cache into a virtual Yoga lesson in order to learn new poses, and broaden the Yoga education of the whole Geocaching community. We could challenge each other to perform Yoga poses we know – or new ones we create!

Surely the Geocaching community would help me out with this right?

Right?

Anyhow… That brings me to this cache page.

To log this cache you will need to do the following: Go to the posted coordinates, take at least one picture, and post it - simple right?

But Which picture(s)? Well, that depends...

To meet the requirements of logging this cache, you just need to somehow get a picture of some part of yourself at the cache location with some part of "Roger" or his pedestal in it.

For optional "jbeck2 street-cred" you may also do the following: When posing for the picture with "Roger", perform a real or imaginary yoga pose - and name it - and challenge others to replicate it.

You can also (optionally) post one or more pictures of yourself attempting to replicate the Geo-Yoga poses of others in response to their challenges.

I think I'll start things off with a newly created Yoga Challenge Pose that I call the “Downward Facing Muggle”...

Geo-Yoga starts Now!

You can check the coordinates for this cache at GeoChecker.com... but I'm not really sure why you'd need to.

Virtual Reward - 2017/2018

This Virtual Cache is part of a limited release of Virtuals created between August 24, 2017 and August 24, 2018. Only 4,000 cache owners were given the opportunity to hide a Virtual Cache. Due to a colossal record-keeping error at Geocaching HQ, JBeck2 was somehow awarded one. We apologize. Learn more about Virtual Rewards on the Geocaching Blog.
