DE: (for english description see below!) Wofür braucht es einen Virtual - wenn man schonmal einen hat... Fast ein Jahr lang hatte ich keine gute Idee, das Beste was mir einfiel war ein Fotologbeweis "Der Geysir in Andernach beim Ausbruch als Fotologbeweis mit der Fontäne zwischen Daumen und Zeigefinger". Aber um den Geysir liegen schon sackweise Dosen, ein Virtual ist auch schon in der Nähe - dann muss ich da nicht nochwas hinwerfen.
Irgendwann kam mir dann doch noch "kurz vor Toresschluss" eine Idee wofür man einen Virtual braucht: Um Orte zu zeigen, an denen man keinen Behälter deponieren kann. Und die sich wirklich zu zeigen lohnen weil sie außergewöhnlich sind.
In diesem Falle ist das der Weilburger Schiffstunnel, der 1847 fertiggestellt wurde um die Frachtschifffahrt auf der Lahn zu ermöglichen. Heutzutage wird er fast ausschließlich von Kanufahrern und anderen Sportschiffern benutzt und stellt aufgrund seiner Seltenheit eine der Hauptattraktionen der Lahn für Wasserwanderer dar. Und da im Tunnel keine Möglichkeit besteht einen Finalbehälter zu deponieren ist er damit der passende Kandidat für einen Virtual.
Logbedingung: Loggen darf jeder, der ein Photo an sein Log hängt das eindeutig zeigt dass er im Schiffstunnel (nicht im zu Fuß zugänglichen Schleusenbereich davor) war, zu belegen folgendermaßen:

Wer keine Photos auf denen sein Gesicht zu erkennen ist in diesem Internetz sehen möchte schneidet einfach den Kopf ab oder verpixelt ihn.
Nachdem hier schon einige Mails aufschlugen: Mir ist völlig wurscht ob und wie gut ihr schwimmen könnt oder dass der Tunnel laut Wikipedia nur 1,75m tief ist und die meisten Erwachsenen da vermutlich stehen können. Das ist nicht der Punkt. Der Punkt ist, dass ihr Gäste auf dem Gelände der Wasser- und Schiffahrtsverwaltung seid. Die hat eine Hausordnung aufgestellt. Die hängt an der Einfahrt zum Tunnel. Also wäre es schön wenn ihr euch wie höfliche Gäste benehmt und die Hausordnung respektiert und eine Schwimmweste tragt, oder, wenn ihr das zu spießig findet weil geocaching mindestens grenzlegal sein muss um Spaß zu machen oder ihr sonst auf den Photos nicht gut ausseht dann auf diesen Gummipunkt hier verzichtet und nicht loggt.
Ich fände es sehr schade wenn ich über kurz oder lang entweder direkt oder über G$ Post bekommen würde vom Amt in der man mir mitteilt dass nachdem der Praktikant die Galerie durchgesehen hat sich x Prozent der geocachenden Besucher nicht an die Hausordnung halten und man daher auf solche Gäste verzichten möchte und darauf besteht dass dieses Geodingsi gelöscht wird.
Ich behalte mir vor Logs ohne Bild oder Logs mit Bild ohne Schwimmweste in Zukunft kommentarlos zu löschen, das ständige Nachhaken wird mir langsam etwas nervig. Regeln des Geländebetreibers gelten ohne Ausnahme für ALLE.
Jetzt aber auf, geht paddeln auf der Lahn - das macht wahnsinnig Spaß und der Tunnel ist echt eine Attraktion!
Ich kann wirklich nur empfehlen während der Outdoor-Saison von Frühling bis Herbst einen Besuch des Schiffstunnels gleich mit einer Kanutour auf der Lahn zu verbinden, wer das noch nie gemacht hat und vorab ein paar Infos möchte wie das geht und was auf ihn zukommt der findet hier eine Anleitung mit Kanu- und Paddeltips für Anfänger auf der Lahn. Direkt am nördlichen Tunneleingang finden sich gleich drei verschiedene kommerzielle Bootsverleiher deren Dienste man in Anspruch nehmen kann.
Touristischer Zusatztipp (z.B. für Menschen die extra für Cache-Highlights mit Terminkalender anreisen und sonst mit der Gegend nichts zu tun haben): Wem 1 Tunnel am Tag nicht langt der kann auch noch einen weiteren Tunnel mitnehmen dessen Parkkoordinaten nicht weit entfernt sind. Wenn ihr klug seid lest ihr vorher das Listing.
EN: What can i make out of a Virtual - as i have been given one? I had no good idea for nearly a whole year, the best thing i thought of was a picture of the geysir in Andernach while erupting with the fountain between your thumb and forefinger as a photo-proof for the log. But there already are several caches close to this geysir, even a Virtual. So there's no need to put another cache next to it.
At some time close to the end of the one-year period for publishing it i got an idea what to do: Show a place where it is impossible to hide a container, that REALLY is worth showing to other people.
In this case it is the boat tunnel in Weilburg. This tunnel was opened 1847 to make the shipping of freight on the river Lahn possible. Nowadays it's mainly used by canoeists and other hobby boat captains and is one of the main tourist attractions of Weilburg. And as there is no possibility to place a container inside the tunnel it is the ideal candidate for a virtual.
Conditions to fulfill for logging this Virtual: To be allowed to log this cache you have to prove that you have been inside the tunnel (not in the area of the locks that is accessible by foot) by attaching a photo to your to your log that shows:

If you don't want to show your face on pictures freely available on the internet just cut off your head or pixelize it.
As i already received some complaining emails: I do not care how good your swimming capabilities are or that the depth of the water inside the tunnel is only 175cm according to wikipedia. The point i care about is the following: You are a guest on the ground of the water authority. The water authority has set up rules to comply with. These rules are shown at the entrance of the tunnel. So it would be very kind if you would behave like a well educated guest and comply with these rules by wearing a life jacket, or, if you find that silly or beneath you, you would refrain from logging and do without this point in your statistics. Thanks.
As the amount of work lately grows i reserve the right to delete logs without picture or logs with picture but without life jacket without confering with the logger from now on. Rules of the water authority operating the area apply to everybody.
But now: Hire a boat and explore the tunnel - that's really fun!
Hint: During outdoor season from spring to autumn you can find 3 different canoe rental companies directly at the northern entrance of the tunnel, i can highly recommend a canoe trip on the river Lahn which is one of the most famous rivers for paddling in germany.
